I recently stayed at Thank You Hippo Inn in Matsumoto for a few days. The hostel is located in a quiet neighborhood just steps from the castle, making it the perfect spot for sightseeing. The beds are spacious capsules that offer great privacy, with reading lights and plugs for convenience. The hostel also provides a washing machine and free oatmeal for breakfast. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and laid-back, making it feel like a home away from home.

The location couldn't be better, as you can see Matsumoto castle as soon as you step outside of the inn. The friendly owner gave me great recommendations for my trip and even helped me find a nice leather wallet. Additionally, I was able to borrow bicycles for free and explore the area easily.

Great location right across from the castle and within walking distance of restaurants and bars. The hostel has a cozy and homely atmosphere with a nice lounge area and tatami flooring in the dormitory. The owner was friendly and helpful, even going the extra mile to drive a guest to a nearby museum on the back of his motorbike.

Some guests staying in a room near the reception area had a disruptive experience due to loud noise late at night, causing a lack of sleep. There were also issues with hot water in the shower and only one toilet and shower available for the entire building.
